What happend to File > Export Selection?

Hi, I’m new to Audacity. The last audio editor I used was SpinDoctor, so yeah, it’s been a minute.

I imported a seventeen-minute AIFF file which includes four different songs, and I want to export each song separately as a FLAC file.

I followed the instructions on how to select only one song. The tutorials I found all say to highlight the section, then use File > Export Selection to export it. But my File menu doesn’t have Export Selection. Or Export.

Was the Export Selection option eliminated in Audacity 2? Is it hiding somewhere I need to activate it? I don’t get it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thank you!

However, I just don’t have File > Export.

I had to do File > Save Other > Export Selected Audio.

Is there a way for me to get Export in my File menu?

Because you are using an old version of Audacity.

The current version of Audacity is available here: Audacity ® | Download for Mac OS

In which case you are running an old version 2.2.0 - that was a temporary (not good) cjange for that version.

We reverted for 2.2.1 (and note that 2.2.2 should be out soon).

You can get the latest version from here: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/
