freeze frame for audio

Hello,

I am using Audacity version 2.1.3.0 on Mac OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan)

I’ve searched this forum and haven’t found an answer to my question. My apologies if this has already been discussed.

Question: can Audacity sustain a note that is selected in a pre-recorded music file? This would be equivalent to creating a freeze frame in video.
The music file I’m working with is “Hey Jude” by The Beatles. I want to select any note in that song and freeze/sustain it for up to 10 seconds.

If this is not possible in Audacity, please let me know what alternatives might be available.

Thanks!
W.

Video editors are repeatedly playing one video frame, so that’s where the stuttering single note comes from. mamamamamamadedededededetutututututu.

Audacity doesn’t have video frames, so there is no good reference.

I don’t know of a good easy way to simulate that effect, either, short of repeatedly duplicating one single selected and copied note.

Audacity has an effect called PaulStretch which will do that …

The chorus effect on Paulstretch is unavoidable.

If you want the sustained note all at the same volume just repeat a short section, (it will sound like a glitched CD) …
