Tried to open Audacity,
Audacity tells me I have the program already running and warns me of lost data.
In an effort to correct the problem I trashed all Audacity files shut down and restarted.
Acquired new Audacity software but when I try to load it I get the same message…that I’m already running the program.
Any suggestions?

There’s a trick to this. Audacity leaves a system file that can become orphan and stuck.

OS-X 10.7 is pretty old. Lion? If you have to upgrade any parts of your system, you may find nothing supports a system that old.
