Need help with Audacity 2.1.3 OS X Yosemite

Help for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X.

ImageThis forum is for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of OS X you are using, the exact three-section version of Audacity from Audacity > About Audacity and whether you obtained the .dmg installer or the zip.

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Are you able to make a ZIP archive of the project and upload it somewhere (such as dropbox) so that we can try to reproduce the problem?
(some other free file sharing services are mentioned in this post: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopi ... 49&t=72887)
(how to make a ZIP archive is described here: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-zip-and ... ac-2260188)

Select both the AUP file and the _data folder. Right-click and choose "Compress 2 items". A zip file named "archive.zip" will be created.

Choose a free hosting service from the list Steve provided, upload the archive file to that service, then post a message here telling us how to find it.

The AUP file is damaged but there is a way to recover the project (or most of it).

First, make a backup of the AUP file and _data folder by copying them to another location on your hard disk (for example, your Documents folder).

Open the Radio 4.aup file in TextEdit and look for these lines near the end of the file:
Code: Select all
<waveblock start="2359296">
      <simp/var/audit/20171008143535.not_terminatedmin="-0.146148" max="0.240396" rms="0.011953"/>
</waveblock>

Delete those three lines and save the file.

Open the project in Audacity. You will get two warnings.
The first will be "Project check found faulty sequence tags"
Check the radio button for "Continue with repairs ..." then click the OK button

The next will be "Warning - Orphan block files"
Leave the radio button "Continue without deleting ..." checked then click the OK button.

Do View > Fit to Window then View > Fit Vertically to see the entire project.

Note that the left and right channels of the third track are different lengths.

However, the content of the left and right channels appears to be identical up to the point where the gap occurs
To fix this, click on the Track Dropdown Menu of the third track and select "Split Stereo to Mono".
Now delete the shorter (lower) of the two mono tracks by clicking the "X" button in the track control panel.

Do File > Save Project As ... and save it with a new name.

There may still be a gap in the third track, but I think this is the best we can do.

I've never seen an AUP file and _data folder damaged in this way. Can you remember what you were doing when you finished the recording and saved the project? Were you using a laptop? Did you close the lid while the project was saving?

Here's a repaired version of the project with as much data salvaged as possible: http://link.dropsend.com/wf/click?upn=M ... 9w8g-3D-3D

I've never seen corruption like this before either, so I'd also be interested to know how it happened.

Thank you so much for all of your help Bill and Steve I finally got it back! To be honest I have no idea what happened all I did was save the project and put it on my desktop. Is there anyway I can prevent this in the future?
