Audacity 2.1.1 problems with LAME library recognition.

Help for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X.

ImageThis forum is for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of OS X you are using, the exact three-section version of Audacity from Audacity > About Audacity and whether you obtained the .dmg installer or the zip.

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Audacity 2.1.1 problems with LAME library recognition.

I have an iMac with 10.5.8.
I have downloaded Audacity 2.1.1 ( it seems this is the only version suitable for 10.5.8).
I downloaded Lame from the correct page:
http://lame.buanzo.org/#lameosxdl
And I followed the instructions on the correct page:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_ ... g_ins.html
I went to Audacity Preferences/Libraries to locate the Lame file, initially Audacity finds the Lame file, and I clicked on the file.
But Audacity still will not export to mp3.

I also tried putting "libmp3lame.dylib" into the folder where I have Audacity installed. But Audacity still will not export to mp3.

Obviously I have tried restarting the Mac.

Anyone have any ideas?

When you say "Audacity will not export to mp3" what exactly are you seeing?

In the Save dialog that comes up when you choose File > Export Audio, what do you see when you click on the "Format" dropdown menu?
