audacity 2.1.1 on a macos sierra 10.12.4 - removing vocals

Help for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X.

ImageThis forum is for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of OS X you are using, the exact three-section version of Audacity from Audacity > About Audacity and whether you obtained the .dmg installer or the zip.

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Hi, i use Audacity to change pitches, slow tracks etc.. I've ever been able to remove vocals to produce a clear instrumental (if i cannot already by online as old track etc...) I'm not sure if i remove middle, vocal reduction, isolation etc?? I've tried but you can still hear vocal in background etc.... i really need a step by step please... Thank you.

Please understand that removing vocals is not a given when all you have is the mix. You are trying to unbake a cake.

See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_vocal_removal_and_isolation.html for some methods you can try.
