Audacity freezes after recovery popup window

Whan I start up Audacity, it shows a popoup window to recover a former project. I select the project, press ‘recorver project’ (or discard project’ - it doesn’t matter). The popup window closes and the program freezes. I can’t click any button. Any mouse click produces a ‘pop’ sound but that’s it. The only thing I can do is to force quit the program. I uninstalled Audacity, cleaned my computer, installed the newest version of the program, but nothing helps. Always the recover window opens and the program doesn’t do anything.

Any idea what I can do to get back to the program?

Thanks

My system: Mac OSX 10.6.8 - Audacity 2.1.2

It’s a bug which we have now fixed in our source code.

If you don’t want to keep the unsaved changes, delete the AUTOSAVE file in ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/AutoSave/. This will prevent Audacity trying to recover the project. Go > Go to Folder in Finder is an easy way to get to the AutoSave folder.

If you want to recover the project, the easiest way is to use our latest 2.1.3-alpha build which has the fix. To obtain that, click the topmost item on http://www.audacity.homerow.net/index.php?dir=mac/. The Automatic Crash Recovery dialogue should work properly there.

Alternatively the recovery dialogue should also work correctly in “Audacity 2.1.1-screen-reader” listed on http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/.
