Audacity won´t start up

Hi,

I´ve tried installing Audacity 2.1 on both my iMac 24 2.93 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, 640 HD, and my new MacBook Pro 2 GHZ Quad Core, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HD, both are running Snow Leopard.
It won´t start on my iMac at all. It starts up on my MacBook Pro, but it freezes and crashes, the minute I try to import a a file.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

To repeat my e-mail reply, the only supported version of Audacity for Snow Leopard is 2.0.1:
Audacity ® | Download for Mac OS .

If Audacity won’t launch the usual reason is incompatible plug-ins on the system (usually Audio Units). Please see:
Missing features - Audacity Support .

If you look at the Crash Report:
http://guides.macrumors.com/Submitting_a_crash_report

it will probably list the plug-in responsible.

I did get it to start up on my new 2 GHZ Quad Core MacBook Pro, but

the moment I try to import a file, it freezes, and crashes.

Is this an Audacity project file (.aup) or an audio file like WAV or AIFF? Is it just the one file, or all files of that type?

Sometimes Audacity on Mac can get (we think) in a memory-corrupted state where files will not import without a
crash. If this happens, try rebooting the Mac.

If the problem persists please tell us what types of file (send us a link to an example file that causes the problem if you can), and send us a crash report (as above).
