Unable To Load Plug-in

On start up of Audacity 2.0 I get this message that reads “Temporary Message Box Unable to load plug-in Please install the plug-in again.” I have no idea what plug-in this refers to but if I click “OK” in the box Audacity starts up and runs without a problem, except that most times when I shut it down it gives me an error message that states the program quit unexpectedly. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? As far as I know it’s just an annoyance and has no affect on the programs operation. I am using an IMac 10 os x 10.6.8.

Somewhere on your system you have a plug-in that either needs authorization, or is incompatible with Audacity.

See the bottom of this page: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Effect_Menu
for where VST and Audio Unit effects are stored on Mac. You probably need to pull one of them out.

I’m having this problem too, what do you mean by pulling them out. like removing plugins from my “components” folder?

using Lion 10.7 on Macbook Pro late 2011

Ok… Any ideas on how to find the problem plug-in? There are quite a few AU plug-ins and scanning over them I see nothing obvious. I’ve even tried loading an audio track and going down the list of effects to see if there are any that won’t work, but again… nothing.

Have a look at this page:

At the bottom is a strategy for finding incompatible plugins.

Thank you Bill. Your last suggestion did the trick. Sometimes I overlook the simple things, like process of elimination. I still get a message occasionally when closing stating that Audacity quit unexpectedly but it’s not bothering me half as bad as the start up message. Thanks again for your help.
