I have hearing tapes that were recorded using high speed dubbing. I have converted them to wav files. How do I slow them down to normal speed and pitch?
Import the WAV files into Audacity. They are probably at a sample rate of 44100 Hz. I assume that they play at twice normal speed.
In the Track Drop-down menu [ http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Track_Drop-Down_Menu ] choose “Set Rate > 22050”.
You can now export the track as a WAV or MP3 for use in iTunes of other media players.
If the recording play at other than twice normal speed you will need to choose a different value in the “Set Rate” menu.
