audacity wants PSP MixPack2 Authorization

i have previously used Audacity on both Linux & Windows. Tonight i downloaded the dmg from http://audacityteam.org/download/mac. This on a Mac Airbook running OS X 10.7.4. When i try to run it, a small window pops up entitled PSP MixPack2 Authorization. It asks for “Your authorization name” and “Your authorization key” and will not proceed without them. I tried the FAQs and http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mac_Bugs. Noting “Audacity should not be run inside the .dmg image” in the latter, i have tried:

  • selecting and dragging all the contents of the mounted .dmg to a new Audacity folder in Applications
  • selecting and dragging the Audacity folder within the mounted .dmg to Applications
  • selecting and dragging all the contents of the Audacity folder within the mounted .dmg to a new Audacity folder in Applications
…all with the same (lack of) result

selecting and dragging the Audacity folder within the mounted .dmg to Applications

That’s what’s supposed to happen. Did you not get an audacity.app inside that folder?

Have you ever bought PSP MixPack2? I got stuck with a bunch of unwanted software once when I downloaded a simple sound editor (other than Audacity). "What the frog is an “AliceOverCompressor” and why is it on my machine? Some of it is aggressive and starts putting up registration panels like you have.
