editing multiple files

Hi all. I’m a newbie here.
Is it possible to edit multiple files at once? For example: I want to attenuate several files by -2 db. Do I have to do each file individually or is there a quicker way?

You can select multiple files from the “Import” dialog screen, provided that the files that you want to select are all in the same directory.

When multiple files are imported, they appear in Audacity one above the other.

To select all audio in all tracks, press “Ctrl + A”.

When you apply an effect (such as “Amplify”), the effect is applied to all selected audio.

“Export Multiple” allows you to export each track as a separate file (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/export_multiple.html)

Note: If you don’t use “metadata”, you can set a preference to prevent the metadata editor from opening before exporting (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/import_export_preferences.html)
