old tower finally burned out, new windows 10 lap hooked thru audiobox usb box and downloaded audacity 2.2.1 my question is with the older versions of audacity I would punch on the track and put lets say lead acoustic on the right side, can you still do that? what happended to that feature or am I missing something?

You should upgrade to 2.2.2 as soon as possible as there’s a nasty bug in 2.2.1 (fixed in 2.2.2).

To record to a new track, “Shift + R” or “Shift + Record button”.

Now you have to use the pan slider

to make a mono-track left or right.
