I am trying to record my drum kit using a mix of 7 mics and 3 mixers with the 3rd being my interface mixer. Before using Audacity, I simply panned all the channels to where I like to get a “drummer’s perspective” in-ear and recorded using a Jamman Stereo Delay. This worked perfect for recording my drum practices and the recordings were panned perfectly. I started using Audacity 2.2.0 and have seen all the tutorials on panning BUT no matter what I do the sound is centered in the recording. This is quite frustrating. Pre interface mixers are panned. The interface mixer is panned 100% left and right. The only option I haven’t tried is reverting back to using the Jamman and then importing the recording into Audacity for post mixing. I shouldn’t have to do that. I love the simplicity of Audacity but I may need to find another program to use. Someone please, help?
What is your “interface mixer” and how is it connected to your computer?

Are you getting 2 identical waveforms (left & right) or one (mono)?
When you plug your headphones into the mixer is everything panned correctly?

Audacity doesn’t pan (or do any other processing) in real-time while recording. It simply captures left & right (or mono) and then you can process in post production.
With your setup (more than two mics) the panning will have to be done with your hardware before the computer ever sees it. (Then of course, the computer and Audacity have to be configured for 2-channel stereo.)
Yes all of the panning is done prior to entering the computer. I believe I fixed the issue. In the device settings, it was set a 1 channel, so I changed it to 2 channel, 16bit, 44100 hz. I did a sound check and it seems to have fixed the issue and now both tracks have differing wave forms. Thanks for replying anyway.
