Deleting Tracks

Hi folks,

I’m a new Audacity user, so apologies if this is a question that I should be able to sort out easily myself! Been using Audacity fine, but yesterday went into it, recorded a track I needed to delete, but when I clicked ‘Remove Track’, the ‘action disallowed’ dialogue box popped up. I have had a virus on my machine, but that has been fixed. Is this a virus issue or am I missing something? (NOT, alas, impossible). Thanks!

Which exact version of Audacity are you using? (look in “Help > About Audacity”).
The current version is 2.2.2 and is available here: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

Make sure you have activated the track to delete. It should be pale blue.

See this page in the manual: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tracks_menu.html#remove_tracks

Peter.

As a result of testing this I note that the error message you get in this situation is somewhat less than helpful.

So I logged a bug for this: https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1842
see: https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1842

Thanks,
WC

Also I think you’d find it much easier to delete tracks by clicking in the X in the top left corner or their Track Control Panels.

See this page in the Manual: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audio_tracks.html#panel
