Low recording level, Windows 10

Good day,

I have a problem with the Win 10 and Audacity combination on mij laptop.
It seems te be a soundcard problem, but I cannot seem to fix it.

Problem description:

When I record anything the input indicators go as it should be.
However, very low level signals are not recorded bij Audacity.
It seems there is some sort of “noise cancelling” with a threshold active.
There are some adjustments to make in the internal soundcard like “voice activated recording”, in my case this is switched off.

It must be a Windows 10 issue, while on the same laptop with Win 8.1 everything worked perfectly.

On my desktop with WIN 8.1 I upgraded this morning to Audacity 2.2.1 and it is still working flawless, so it is not an Audacity issue.

Any suggestions?

Regards, Leo Mudde

It may be Windows sound “enhancements” messing up the recording. See here for how to turn the enhancements off: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements
