I need Audacity/recording help. 2018-01-08 03:44 PST I’m trying to record from the internet (youtube, etc.) into Audacity. I was able to mute my laptop and the audio would still record into Audacity. Now, when I mute the laptop, the recording gets muted as well. Not sure what I did, but I must have changed something in settings somewhere. Anyone know a solution?

If you’re recording “Stereo Mix”, try switching to “WASAPI Loopback”.
Or, you can plug-in a pair of computer speakers and turn-down the volume on the speakers, or plug-in headphones and stick the headphones in a drawer.
