when i press red button of recording, it does record but it stops when i stop my singing or words, simultaneously pause button start functioning automatically when i TAKE PAUSE. this cause the continuous recording and doesnt allow me to to take necessary pause in my recording. when I play back it sounds weared as continuous recording without gaps in between
pls help me

So that we can give accurate and relevant information, please always say which exact version of Audacity you are using (look in “Help menu > About Audacity”.)
Assuming that you are using the current 2.2.1 version, look in “Transport menu > Transport Options > Sound Activated Recording (On/Off)”.
I suspect that option has a tick by it, but it shouldn’t have, so click on that item to turn off Sound Activated Recording.
