Noise Reduction

I am trying to remove noise from an audio clip that contains my voice, but the problem is my voice is centered around the frequency of the noise (~140 Hz). Is there any method I can use? I’ve tried the noise reduction tool and the equalizer, but my voice sounds like its coming through a bad telephone afterwards.

I am using Audacity 2.1.2 on Windows 7.

Not all bad recordings lend themselves to post-production rescue. This is where you back out to the live performance and see where it can be improved.

Goals are good. Why are you making the recording?

How are you making the recording? Microphone, connection type and computer maker? Environment? If you really offend the sound deities you can have multiple problems.

Noise is a common place for new AudioBook readers to fall apart.

I can’t re-record the clip, so my only option is to edit it. I’m using a headset that plugs into a 3.5mm audio jack. It’s a recording of a live presentation that I did, but there was a loud fan in the background. I need to get the audio to the host of the presentation so they can archive it.
