Windows 10 Audacity 2.1.1 Not sure how to ask the write question
Can I load two pieces of music, fad one in and one out, then overlay one on top of the other. I want to create a playlist that runs one after another with fade out/in

I think so.
File > Import both of the songs and Audacity should pile them one on top of the other. Import the first song first.
Audacity will try to play them at the same time unless you tell it not to with the MUTE and SOLO buttons on the left.
Use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways arrows) to push the bottom track to the right.
Drag-select the end of the top track and Effect > Fade Out and the beginning of the bottom track and Effect > Fade In. Jocky the bottom track back and forth until the cross-fade is as you like it.
Audacity will push both songs together into one when you File > Export.
If you want to create an MP3, you will have to install the special LAME software. Scroll down.
