  • Please state which version of Windows you are using, the exact three-section version of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

  • Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Does Audacity have an Automatic Backup, if not is there a party program that could do the equivalent as I am recording? Thank you for your response.

It is recommended that you make backups of recordings by (manually) exporting as WAV (or FLAC) immediately after recording. A potential problem with automating this would be that it could cause the hard drive to be busy when Audacity needs to write data from the recording, causing data loss in the recording.
