Help for Audacity 2.x.x on Windows.

ImageThis forum is for Audacity 2.x.x on Windows.

  • Please state which version of Windows you are using, the exact three-section version of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

  • Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

This is where I slowly back away. I'm not a Windows elf.

Whoever writes back is going to ask you the same things:
when I opened it today the recordings all sound like Darth Vader.

All your old recordings and music? Are you getting this error when you fresh record your voice with a microphone? Which microphone? How is it connected if it's not obvious?

What are you recording—in detail.

If you have non-obvious problems, we have to build your environment in our heads so you need to tell us enough to do that.

I think I missed the obvious one. Is Windows applying voice conferencing corrections and echo cancellation? Might this have happened since the last Windows Update?
