Fading in and Out "Newbie"

Just looking for a simple PODCAST. Bought a cheap Behringer startup kit and the Mic sounds like it is fading in and out, when I make a huge effort to talk clear and constant.

I bought a new Mic ($90) and this one is a USB plugin, so I did that and I still get a very weak volume when I playback…

Any thoughts? Best way to record for a Podcast with Audacity?

Try turning-off Windows “enhancements”.

Most “podcast” mics are side-address directional mics so you have to speak/sing into the front side (not the back or the end).

If there is no gain control and it’s not loud enough you can boost the level after recording. …Some of these mics can handle very-loud sounds without clipping (distorting) and that means if there’s no level/gain control, they have lots of headroom at normal volumes.
