Audacity did not recognize the type of file

I recorded an interview for school on my phone using an app called voice recorder by Splend Apps. I emailed it to myself and downloaded it, tried to import it to Audacity, but it said "Audacity did not recognize the type of the file “here it my file and where it was”. If it is uncompressed, try importing it using “import raw”.

I then tried to used import raw, but it just had a really weird frequency playing (I didn’t change any of the settings that popped up).

I don’t know what format my file is in…

Help please!

Voice recorders are notorious for using weird formats.
Have you installed FFmpeg? If not, you could try installing FFmpeg (instructions here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown) and if you are very lucky, that may enable Audacity to import the file.
