Recording internally [SOLVED]

Hi, I’m fairly new to Audactity, at least I haven’t used it for years! I’m trying to record from a Dictaphone but don’t know what settings to use to record internally. My laptop’s recording externally so picking up extraneous noises. I’m om W8.1 using the current version or Audacity - just downloaded this morning.

It’s OK, I’ve been a dunce! I should have plugged the lead into the Dictaphone’s headphone socket and not the microphone! I hope this post will be of use to someone!
