Simultaneously copy track and label.

Hello,

I am using Audacity 2.1.2 (installed with the .exe file) on Windows 10 64-bit.

I would like to be able to simultaneously copy an audio track, and a corresponding label I have made on a label track, to a separate audio track and label track. So far I have only been able to copy one at a time.

How do I simultaneously copy both?

Thanks!

Select the track by clicking just above MUTE. Hold SHIFT and click in the similar blank place to the left of the label track. Control-C copy, Control-V Paste.

Hi Koz,

Thanks for the reply. What you said does indeed work, but I’m looking back on my post, and realizing that I may have mis-phrased what I am actually looking to do.

What I am actually looking to do is simultaneously copy a single clip within an audio track, and a corresponding label, to a separate audio and label track. So e.g., if I have a 1 minute audio track file, and there is a label track with a label called “Label 1” from 10s-20s, I want to simultaneously copy the 10s-20s clip from the audio track, and the label called “Label 1”, into a separate audio and label track.

Thanks again!

Assuming you want this labelled region and its label in the same project and at the same Timeline position, you would have to click in the label, create a new Audio Track and a new Label Track using the Tracks Menu, then SHIFT-click above Mute/Solo in the new audio track. This leaves you with both new tracks selected and you still have the label’s time range selected in the Timeline. Now you can paste.

But if that’s what you want, it is much quicker just to click in the label and Edit > Duplicate , which creates the new tracks for you.
