Mic in a bucket

My Logitech webcam mic seems to be cutting in and prevent me recording properly from Internet radio streams.

The result - it records both the Internet and external sounds from the room - and the finished recording sounds like the mic is in a bucket - dull, flat, slightly echoey (probably because the mic is beneath the speaker shelf!).

I’ve tried disabling the webcam mic but Audacity then can’t find any alternative to record with.

I have used Audacity successfully for many years but recently re-installed Windows and can’t get back to the same successful configuration.

To record from the Internet, the best way is to use “Stereo Mix” (if that option is available).
