Edit out one voice.

Dear Madam or Sir:

I recorded a singing group on my RCA digital recorder, and, frankly, one of the loudest singers was quite dreadful. Is there a way for me to use Audacity to edit out his voice, and not anyone else’s from the same track?

Thank you for your help!

You can’t split out the individual singers in a mixed performance. Once you have them all together into one show, that’s the end. Even if they’re singing different notes as in Barber Shop, each voice is similar enough to the others to make splitting impossible.

When the big kids do this, they record each voice on their own recorder. Once you do that, you can go back to the original tapes or recordings and remix any way you want.

Welcome to the live recording experience.
