This isn’t the right forum for this question, but since it’s not platform specific I can answer it anyway.
It’s simple, rename the PROJECT.aup file (the currently empty one) to something like PROJECT.aup.empty (you probably won’t need this file for anything, but I don’t know for sure).
Then rename the PROJECT.aup.BAK file to PROJECT.aup
Open the new PROJECT.aup file as a project in Audacity. It’s likely that the BAK file contains a slightly older version of the project, so expect to have to deal with that.
