Audio Interface is recognized, but no sound?

I'm using a KORG Pandora (PX5D) audio interface, it shows up in the preferences for recording, which I've selected, but I can't get any sound.

I've tried microphone, line in and aux, but can't hear or record. Which of these from dropdown should I be using? I've previously always used microphone.

I've tried all, but still no sound. I've called Korg's tech support and they said it's an Audacity problem.

I tried it in a friend's computer using Cakewalk and it worked fine.

I thought that my version of Audacity might be the problem, but I can still
record with a microphone. Ive also checked Windows volume control, nothing is muted, and the sliders are up.

I'm using version 1.2.6. It's ironic because the interface works fine with other programs and my Audacity works fine using the mic line in, but for some reason the Korg device and Audacity aren't talking to each other.

I'm running XP Pro with SP3 and have plenty of memory and storage. I've even checked for outdated drivers, but all seems to be working fine. It's baffling!!!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Audacity has its own preferences panel for selecting its input.

That and it's always a good idea to change the Audacity preferences when you're trying to do something like this for the first time.

44100, 16-bit, Stereo.

The earlier Audacity defaulted to 44100, 32-bit floating, Mono. That doesn't work with much of anything.

I've selected the I/O devices in Audacity's panel (Korg Pandora is recognized) and verified that it's at 44100, 16-bit, Stereo, but still no sound using interface, although I can use a 1/8" adapter and run a direct line in (using microphone from input dropdown) and get sound.

I'm stumped and have been over everything with no resolve. I've been using Audacity for about 4 years now and with different audio interfaces, but never had this problem.

Does it work with Windows Sound Recorder?

Just tried it and yes, works okay with Windows Sound recorder.

Tried it with Audacity again and no sound, then tried running guitar into Korg device and then into small amp with headphone out into soundcard and worked with Audacity.

I just can't seem to figure out why it doesn't go direct into USB to Audacity?

If it's working with Windows Sound Recorder, go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O" and set the recording device to "Microsoft Sound Mapper" (that's the same as Windows Sound Recorder uses).

When you start recording you should see the recording meter indicate a signal is being received.

Okay, when I said I tried it with windows sound recorder yesterday and it worked. I forgot that I had the USB and the line out going to the soundcard.

Today, trying it with windows sound recorder, I'm getting no sound. I just tried it with Audacity with both USB in and output to soundcard and it works that way. But the drop down box in Audacity is "grayed out." ? (mic/line/aux/etc).

My gut feeling is that it is something wrong with the Korg device at this point, but I don't really know for sure and can't prove it because it works with Cakewalk.

Cakewalk may be using ASIO drivers to communicate with the Korg. Audacity does not use ASIO drivers (licensing restrictions do not allow Audacity to be distributed with ASIO support), and so has to use Windows drivers. The problem could be in getting the Windows drivers properly configured.

You know that you could use Cakewalk for recording, then Export WAV files from Cakewalk and Import them into Audacity for editing.

Yes, thanks, I am aware of that, but it kind of defeats the purpose for why I bought the Korg unit.
