Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.0.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

After a first installation I get this message "The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and the problem is still there.

I have an ASUS M3L mob with built-in sound and an AMD Athlon 5200+ processor.

It is 1.2.6 you are installing - and not the latest Beta version 1.3.8?

We did see some similar problems with the early 1.3.8 releases on Windows XP - see: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=11706

It is the 1.3.8 beta (Unicode) version. I only downloaded a few days ago.

I am beginning to suspect my sound card as it works on my work desktop (the one I am on now), which is a Pentium 4 mob unknown. Unfortunately I can't record stuff at work!

I have followed that link and downloaded the latest version and will try that. Thanks will let you know.
