libmad is 12 years old! Has anyone updated it?

Working through the error log, I see that libmad, and thus libmad/MeV++ is now 12 years old. Has anyone updated it? The original sources seem to be abandoned, but there may be others working to bring it up to C++ level? Wishful thinking I know…

Yes that’s the “latest” version. If it ain’t broke, why fix it?

The very reason I’m still using my Grandfathers axe to chop firewood. It’s only had six new handles and four new heads, but hey, it’s a great axe.

Or we could consider moving to libmpg123. It is supposed to be faster than libmad, for one thing.
