Can Audacity be compiled for Win32 under CYGWIN?

Hello,

I was wondering if Audacity can be compiled using GCC in the Win32 CYGWIN environment? (I have CYGWIN on a WIndows XP Professional machine).

Someone did it long time ago. But why? You can build a native Windows version easily.
