Recording streaming audio (FAQ did not help help)

Hello everyone!

New to Linux here....

Asus MB Athlon 64 1 GB ram

Running:
Ubuntu 11.04
Audacity 1.3.13-beta (Unicode)
Alsamixer 1.0.24.2
Sound Blaster Live Value PCI card #CT4780

Sound works fine BUT...

I want to record streaming audio (like you can with Total Recorder for Windows)

Read the Audacity Wiki "Recording Audio Playing on the Computer"

In alsamixer, I go F4, spacebar "Capture" (red capture tab appears). When I spacebar "Mix" (as suggested in the article) I get a constant tone from the speakers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance...

Ubuntu uses PulseAudio by default.
There's a walk through for Ubuntu 10.10 here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Stere ... _Ubuntu_10
It will probably be quite similar on Ubuntu 11.04.
