Lost recording, copied tmp files / seem empty

This section is now closed.

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Lost recording, copied tmp files / seem empty

Hello! I am running Audacity 1.3.1.2 Beta on a Macbook Pro.

Last Sunday, I was making a recording and didn't realize how low my disk space had gotten. The program locked up (presumably when there was no more disk space) and I lost everything. I tried to copy tmp files before but couldn't find the right folder. I performed a "Force Quit" today, located and copied the tmp files (.au). Unfortunately, they appear to be empty. When I performed a "Recovery" the file was the appropriate length but didn't seem to have any content. Is there any hope? The files total about 800MB but I had no luck doing anything with them so far.

Any help would be wonderful.

Thanks!

Audacity > Preferences > Directories should tell you where Audacity put its temporary files. Such as: /tmp/audacity1.2-koz

I think the next time you launch Audacity (on your cleaned machine) it should offer to recover the work for you.
