I am currently experiencing problems using a clarity usb cassette recorder crc2765 to record some material from a cassette using audacity 1.3 x (beta) and an imac. It is the 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo running 10.5.8.

Basically when i start the setup procedure and I check preferences there is no menu labelled Audio I/O. I have tried different settings but when i play the cassette i cannot hear what is being recorded and when i transfer the file from audacity to i tunes there is nothing recorded. I have followed the manual word for word but no recording takes place no matter what i do.

Has anybody any advice on how to use the clarity with mac, is there a compatibility issue?

In Audacity 1.3.x it is called "Devices"
Go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" and select the USB option for the recording device and you normal sound card as the playback device.
You will also need to enable "Software Playthrough" which you will find near the bottom of the "Transport" menu.

Note that the USB cassette player must be connected before you Open Audacity.
Setting up a USB cassette deck is pretty similar to setting up a USB turntable - you can find more information here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables

I am using a Clarity USB cassette recorder CRC2765 as well - just wondering if the audicity software support function of recording tracks from the PC (e.g. in MP3 format) onto a cassette?

I note that the product has an audio I/O function - will i be able to do that with the audicity software?

Thanks!

Krystal:
Are you saying you want to record audio playing on the computer onto a cassette? This has nothing to do with Audacity. If the cassette deck has a line level input and a record function you can connect the headphone output of your computer to the line input of the cassette.
