Restoring alias files

Postby sbridge » Mon Nov 02, 2009 5:18 am

I've read the details on the Wiki about how to retrieve files with no sound, but I'm confused about how to restore alias files. How do I restore a path? Do I "Save As..." or just move the file or rename it?
In my case, the path is: aliasfile='/Volumes/Untitled/STEREO/FOLDER01/STE-003.wav'
It is referring to the original file on the Zoom recorder, which no longer exists. Can I just move the file back to the recorder?

Probably.

UNIX operating systems and OS-X is one, don't know what a hard drive or storage thing is. They treat everything like a mounted file system -- a directory or folder. /Volumes is the mount point for drives on a Mac. So you could create that folder artificially and not connect your Zoom at all, but it's probably the most straightforward to connect the Zoom, move the file over, and let the operating system Find it again.

And Next Time make a music folder on your system and put all the music in it ahead of time. Doesn't have to be iTunes -- in fact it's better if it wasn't. iTunes can fool you into thinking you "have" music when you really don't.
