Export WAV in chain changes bit rate

This section is now closed.

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

I've sent you a private message with a link to a zip file containing an unofficial 1.3.14 alpha version of Audacity. This adds support for FFmpeg export and "Other Uncompressed Files" export to Chains. There are a couple of limitations as mentioned in my message.

Do you explicitly want it for a Chain? You can already export 8-bit WAV without a Chain by choosing "Other uncompressed files" when you export, then click "Options".

Yes, for use in a chain where I normalize and truncate silence...then need to convert to small rate such as GSM6.10 or equivelant.

OK I've sent you a private message with a link to the zip file containing an unofficial 1.3.14 alpha version of Audacity. This adds support for FFmpeg export and "Other Uncompressed Files" export to Chains, and it also adds an explicit "ExportGSM" chain command for the "GSM 6.10 WAV (mobile)" export item.

There are a couple of limitations as mentioned in my message.

The alpha release is no longer relevant. You are replying to a post that is over 6 months old. That alpha version has been superseded by Audacity 2.0 which is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Sorry - this was the only thread that discussed my issue. Should I start a new one?

Unless I missed something, the beta version you provided a link to does not have the ability to export an uncompressed file in a Chain. This is what I am looking for so I can batch edit a whole bunch of wavs for our phone system.

Thanks for your response, Steve.
I need to export 8 bit mono ulaw wav files en masse.
I can do this one by one using Export, but I would really rather use the Chain functionality, since I have over 200 files to process.
