Interference when recording accoustic guitar

Hi there,

I am trying to start recording my accoustic guitar but when I play it back, I can hear some kind of interference/feedback - it is not there all the time but only on the points where I play the actual chord/note. It doesn't happen when I record my voice. I have tried the noise removal effect but that doesn't improve it.

I would be grateful for any tips - please let me know if you need any more information.

Audacity version - 1.3.14 beta (unicode)
Operating system - Windows 7
PC - HP laptop (only 4 months old)
External microphone - Samson CO1U USB studio condenser
Pop filter used

Since you appear to be doing everything completely right, I think we need to take a listen. Post a WAV segment of the work here on the forum.

I don't know if it says this in the instructions, but reduce the show to mono with Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono before you prepare the work for us. You will be able to get twice as much music on the forum that way. If the capture is already in mono, ignore this.

Pick a segment with no playing at all and then music so we can get the contrast as well as the music and damage.

Sorry, for the delay Koz getting back I've been away for sometime. Thanks for your suggestion - I will record just my acoustic with silent bits. I do use not removal, but it only seems to happen when I press down on the strings. I have tried other acoustics and the same thing happens - it doesn't happen when I record my vocals?

Hello,

I've attached a small wav file with example of my acoustic guitar recording and a voice recording straight after so you can notice the difference i.e. interference on a acoustic guitar, but not on voice.

I can hear that you've used noise removal on the voice recording.

I don't hear any "interference", just a bit of hiss and what sound like normal acoustic noises. What are we supposed to be listening for?

I think I get it. You may be running into Windows Conferencing, particularly since you have a new computer. Scroll down to Windows Conferencing.

Newer Windows installs take a more more active role in sound processing than the older ones did. It's OK with voice, but it hates music.

Tried what you suggested and seems to be some improvement. Also, you were right (good hearing), I did you noise removal and this may have also contributed to some of the sound interference.
