Help for users of Audacity 1.2.x on GNU/Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.

weird white noise

Postby flyvin » Wed Aug 19, 2009 11:57 pm

I have Ubuntu 9.04(Jaunty) and whenever I start up Audacity it just starts making this white noise and I cant hear any other sounds. It continues to do this until I restart my computer. It has been doing this for a while, and it started when I updated my computer a while ago. I tried changing my audio settings and looking through all the processes, and I couldn't find anything. HELP!

flyvin,
What did you update ? Can you undo it ?

Perhaps your audio controller is bad. Do other programs work properly ?

If you think the problem is with Audacity, can you try running the beta ?

Well, what I updated was ubuntu itself. My computer had a lot of problems, but I recently re-install ubuntu and now its working fine. I think is had something to do with the way I had my sound configured. Its all good now though.
